Lisette Guy

Junior Psychologist, Third Year Counselling Psychology Trainee

Lisette Writes:

Hi, I’m Lisette, I am passionate about providing therapy that is tailored to individual needs and working collaboratively to promote agency and wellbeing. I tend to draw from a range of psychological approaches, and provide interventions based on clients’ hopes for therapy or identified goals. I have a background in health psychology and am particularly interested in mind-body approaches, to provide holistic care.

I have experience in NHS and third sector settings and have worked with clients who sought therapy in relation to a range of difficulties, such as physical health diagnoses, end-of-life care, chronic conditions, low mood, bereavement, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, self-criticism, eating disorders, and anxiety.

I believe that each client is unique, with their own set of experiences, and working together to create a shared understanding of these from a place of compassion can strengthen our resources for managing distress. I have experience using Person-Centred approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Compassion and Mindfulness-based approaches, that incorporate self-soothing strategies, relational approaches, and consider the context of societal, systemic, and external factors that may contribute to difficulties experienced.

I am currently heading into my final year of training to become a counselling psychologist at City, university of London, and hold previous undergraduate and post-graduate qualifications in psychology.
